William Parks was born about 1830 in the Winsford area of Cheshire. He married Elizabeth Crawford in 1856 at St Johns Chester.
The couple were living on Foregate Street in Chester, William was a boat inspector, they had 2 known children – Mary Priscilla born about 1857 and Joseph Edwin born about 1862. By 1881 the children had left home and William was now a shipwright.
In early 1881 Mary Priscilla married Samuel Richard Johnson who was a wine merchant and hotel keeper; they came to live in Wrexham and were at the Lion Hotel, High Street for many years. In 1891 Elizabeth Parks was with her daughter and her family at the Lion Hotel, but she died there later that year aged 63; she was buried in Wrexham Cemetery. Her husband William died in 1896 in Acrefair.
Their daughter Mary Priscilla died in 1897 at the Lion Hotel, she was only 37. Her husband Richard moved to Llangollen with his family and ran the Royal Hotel for many years.
Joseph Edwin had married Annie Laura McCheane from Birkenhead in 1885, also at St Johns. They moved to Wrexham where Joseph Edwin was occupied as a wine merchant’s assistant, possibly for his brother in law S R Johnson. By 1901 he had completely changed his job and was a retired hairdresser. At that time their children were Agnes P Parks 14, William S Parks 10, Ethel M Parks 8 and Elizabeth Parks aged 6, they were living on Ruabon Road.
In March 1906 a little girl was buried with Elizabeth and William, it was their grandchild Dorothy who had died at Ruabon Road aged just 7 months. The birth of another child Violet Parks was registered at the same time to the same parents, so they were twins.
Nothing more has been found on the family.
