
THOMAS PHENNAH 1823 – 1907
ELLEN /ELEANOR JONES 1825 – 1894
Rev Thomas Phennah was born on 30 December 1823 and was christened at Adwy’r Clawdd Calvinistic Methodist Church, he was the son of Thomas who was a tailor and Anne Hughes. In 1852 Thomas married Ellen Jones who was born on 21 July 1825 in Llanarmon. Over the years they lived on Vicarage Hill, Church St and Trevor Street. His occupations varied from a painter and decorator, bookbinder, stationer and registrar of marriages. Their sons became important persons in the town and they are listed in the Wrexham Directory 1886.
Thomas was ordained as a minister in 1881 by the North Wales Calvinistic Methodists. He officiated at many marriages held in Chapels in the area and at the Register Office in Wrexham. Thomas is mentioned in “The History of Wrexham” and about his Methodist connection. Thomas died in 1907, his probate describes him as “Minister of the Gospel” of Albion House Wrexham.
Ellen / Eleanor Jones died in 1894 in Trevor Street, Wrexham.
Marjorie Mills Roberts aged 7 weeks was the granddaughter of Thomas and Eleanor. The little girl was buried 21 July 1904, she was of Albion House. Her father was Edward Roberts a wallpaper dealer and her mother Annie Maria Phennah who was the daughter of Thomas and Eleanor.
